Our Heritage
Ohio Veterans Children's Home
Formerly known as the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home — a story of compassion, resilience, and community spanning over a century.
The Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home was established to care for the children of Ohio veterans who had served their country. Over the decades, thousands of children found shelter, education, and a sense of family within its walls.
The home evolved over time, eventually becoming known as the Ohio Veterans Children's Home. It served as a vital institution in the lives of countless children who lost their parents to war, illness, or other circumstances.
Today, the Home History Fund works to ensure that the stories of these children and the institution that housed them are not forgotten. Through research, documentation, and educational materials, we preserve this important chapter of Ohio history.
The educational materials produced by our organization are provided to the museum located on the former home's property and are available to the public without charge.
